Current Publishing is an independently owned magazine publishing company based in London that focuses on the heritage sector. It was founded in 1967, and our specialist titles are well-respected in their fields. Our team of dedicated writers live and breathe their subjects, which they turn into illuminating features easily understandable by the general public. As such, we are fortunate to have a highly loyal readership.

This has allowed the company to flourish during testing times, and in the last few years, we have been able to increase our portfolio, the frequency of some of our titles, and our readership as well. We now deliver hundreds of thousands of copies per year to dedicated, intelligent readers from the UK, the US, and the rest of the world.

We publish four magazines, Current Archaeology, Britain's favourite archaeology magazine, focusing on archaeology in the UK; Current World Archaeology, a sister magazine which contains digs and discoveries from around the world; Military History Matters, the history magazine on conflict on land, sea, and in the air; and we have recently welcomed Minerva into the fold, the magazine of archaeology and the ancient world.

Our Magazines

Current Archaeology

Current Archaeology

First published in 1967, Current Archaeology has long been Britain's favourite archaeology magazine, packed with the latest archaeology news and features in a brilliantly readable style. The magazine aims to bridge the gap between the amateur and the professional in archaeology. Most of the articles are written by the archaeologists involved, and are then edited to ensure it is accessible to all. We aim neither to preach, nor to give a bare recital of facts. Instead we tell you the stories; why the excavators went there; how they made their discoveries; what they found; and what it all means.

Military History Matters

Military History Matters

Military History Matters is the new magazine that brings the battles to life with action-packed narrative and authoritative detail. We tell the real stories of the heroes, both celebrated and forgotten, and feats of daring on land, at sea, and in the air. But MHM is not just about telling the stories: we lift the fog of war and cut through the victors' propaganda to truly analyse what really happened, why decisions were made, and, importantly, who really won. We look at the new research and the new theories, to bring unparalleled analysis and expert opinion to our readers.

Current Archaeology LIVE!

Current Archaeology Live! is an annual two-day conference that tells you all you need to know about the latest discoveries from Britain and abroad. We hear from the foremost archaeological experts on recent finds and ground-breaking research – it is always an entertaining, stimulating and enjoyable event, attended by over 400 people every year.

Current Archaeology Awards

The annual Current Archaeology Awards celebrate the projects and publications that have made the pages of CA over the last 12 months, and the people judged to have made outstanding contributions to archaeology.

The nominees are published in Current Archaeology, and voting takes place on the Current Archaeology website. These awards are voted for entirely by the public - there are no panels of judges - so we encourage you to cast your vote for the projects, publications, and people who have inspired you over the last year.
